Hi and non-contact high-five to you!

How has your week been?

This week been all about the American election. As a friend said to me, ‘it’s beginning to seem like America is Nigeria with 24/7 power, good roads, and tap water.

But back to us - have you seen the latest Week of Saturday’s new resource on the state of the freelance writing industry in 2020?

They did the Lord’s work with this piece. Here are four of their most significant findings:

1. The global annual average earnings of a writer are $21,000.

2. 48% of online writing jobs are US-based.

3. The most popular writing job titles are copywriter, writer, and editor.

4. Only 13.80% of writing jobs are technical, but writers with technical writing skills earn more than non-technical writers.

You should give it a read.

This week, it’s all about power words

Power words are the words writers/copywriters use to drive an emotional or physiological response in their writing.

They are called ‘power words’ because they influence your readers and get them to take action.

So, writing an email newsletter, a landing page, or that next article? Power words are a great and quick tactic for increasing your conversion and engagement rates.

Depending on where you read about it, power words are usually categorized into:

  • Lust words.

  • Greed words.

  • Vanity words.

  • Sloth words.

  • Happiness words.

  • Authority words.

  • Curiosity words.

  • Fear words.

Here are three resources you can get a wholesome list of over 300 power words plus examples of where you can use them:

Some words are repeated across these three lists, but you should find each list resourceful.

M‍y biggest takeaway this week 🚀

Selfishness is great for survival but detrimental to success.

What I’m thinking about?

Nobody cares about how many books you've read

Nobody cares about how hard you work

Until you

DEMONSTRATE HARD RESULTS

Thanks for reading this far. I am grateful!

Stay safe & sane,

Dozie
