Creating memorable content

For content to be meaningful, it has to be memorable.

Happy Friday folks,

How are we all doing?

Been ill most of the week, but currently on the mend.

Almost didn’t write today’s newsletter.

But hey, here I am - trying to write this while I try to figure out where I can scrounge out 3 - 4 hrs this weekend to write my next article.

Pro Tip - This article on How Much Time it Takes to Write a Blog Post by my colleague at Pointed Copywriting, Mandy is a great read if you are wondering how long it takes to write a great piece of content.

So now to creating memorable content!

Content marketing, when done right, boosts brand awareness, engage audiences, and drive conversions. However, creating quality content that your readers find valuable can be tough, especially on a consistent basis.

For content to be meaningful, it has to be memorable.

Readers today scroll past hundreds if not thousands of ads, articles, and videos in a day, so now is not the time to blend in.

If you need your content marketing efforts to drive results, then you need to create something that resonates with your readers.

Let's take a look at three tips you can apply without too much hassle:

Evoke emotions

A great way to make your content memorable is to evoke the right emotions. Emotions that make your customers stop and feel. You can evoke the following emotions depending on what you hope to achieve:

  • Happy customers are more likely to share.

  • Sadness makes humans yearn for connection, and they are more likely to be more charitable and donate to a cause.

  • Fear causes customers to look for comfort. Don’t scare them away by overdoing it.

Inspire your readers

If you are able to inspire your readers, they become more than your audience. They become advocates.

Dan Tynski has shared eight attributes of content that inspire action, including:

  1. Provocative

  2. Visionary

  3. Differentiated

  4. Relevant

  5. Timely

  6. Demonstrates mastery

  7. Fulfills a need

  8. Tells a story

Lastly, write catchy intros

Your introductions are everything. They pull a reader into the content right from the first sentence!

Some ideas to help you craft unforgettable introductions are:

  • Ask a thought-provoking question.

  • Share a shocking fact or statistic.

  • Start with a story

Side-note: My expert roundup article on introductions should be ready next week, I have over 15 responses from various experts in the content marketing industry. You all will be the first to be notified once it goes live.

My biggest lesson this week

To persuade people, speak their language. Don't expect them to learn yours.

What am I thinking about?

What am I reading?

Stay sharp folks,

Dozie
